Biography:
Professor Dato’ Dr Abdul Rashid Khan is a medical doctor with a Post Graduate Diploma and a Masters in Health Science from Edith Cowan Universtiy, Australia and a PhD in Community Health from University Kebangsaan Malaysia. He is currently the Professor and Head, Department of Public Health Medicine, and Deputy Dean Postgraduate Affairs & International Relations in Penang Medical College, a medical college wholly owned by the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and University College Dublin. He has more than 60 peer reviewed publications and has written numerous books and chapters in books. He is also a member of the international advisory board and reviewer for numerous medical journals. He has a keen interest in the wellbeing of the elderly especially the association of social factors to the health of older adults. He also has a very keen interest in community outreach projects. He has been very actively involved in research, health promotion & education and social wellbeing projects in rural Kedah and Penang as well as among the Orang Asli (aborigines in Peninsular Malaysia) in Perak.
