Biography:
Professor Stephen Doughty is the President and CEO of Penang Medical College which delivers degrees of the National University of Ireland and is co-owned by University College Dublin and the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland.

Stephen joined PMC in September 2016, having previously held the post of Vice-Provost (Teaching and Learning) at the University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus since 2010.

He joined the School of Pharmacy at the University of Nottingham in 2001 having previously held a lectureship position at the University of Bradford, UK. He obtained a first-class degree in Chemistry from the University of Essex and a DPhil in Chemistry from Oxford University in the UK.

In 2005, Stephen moved to the University of Nottingham’s Malaysia Campus to establish the School of Pharmacy at UNMC and became the Dean of the Faculty of Science. He introduced the first ever UK accredited pharmacy programme delivered in part overseas and as founding Dean grew the Faculty of Science to a strong six schools. Stephen he has held a number of academic leadership positions, including being a Board Director, chair and member of Management Group and further extensive experience helping to guide institutional strategic direction in a transnational education environment.
